12: The Protest Song
Lisa Simpson
Come gather 'round children
It's high time ye learns
'Bout a hero named Homer
And a devil named Burns
We'll march 'til we drop
the girls and the fellas
we'll fight 'til the death
or else fold like umbrellas
So we'll march day and night
By the big cooling tower
They have the plant
But we have the power.
Homer becomes the power plant worker's union rep (the International Brotherhood of Jazz Dancers, Pastry Chefs and Nuclear Technicians) and calls for a strike to get back the dental plan, so is can pay for Lisa's new braces. Burns tries to threaten and bribe Homer into submission, but he doesn't give in. This song rallies the union protesters outside the power plant as Burn shuts off the power. Burns finally proposes to reinstate the dental plan as long as Homer resigns his union leader post. Homer agrees.
