The National Gallery of Scotland (and its sister building, the Royal Scottish Academy which is mostly hidden from view here) sit on the Mound between the Royal Mile and Princes Street at the heart of Edinburgh. To the left is the 200ft tall Scott Monument, complete in 1844.
