Situated on a spit of land at the head of Loch Awe and in the shadow of the Munros of the Dalmally horseshoe, Kilchurn Castle was once the ancestral home of the Campbells of Glenorchy. First built in 1450, the castle was abandoned following severe lightning damage about 250 years ago.
