Based on the Sydney Habour Bridege, the Tyne Bridge (foreground) was opened in 1928. It links Newcastle and Gateshead with a main span of 162m, reaching 59m above the water. Behind, there is the modern music centre ("The Sage Gateshead"), the Baltic modern art gallery and the Millennium Bridge.
